I really enjoy what people have to say about my work. Maxine Harris from ‘fussedmag.com’ writes a really nice article analyzing my pieces and giving some commentary and background that really hits the nail on the head with my artwork.

“If I had one word to describe the art of Alec Goss, that word would be eclectic. Each of his works contains a fascinating mix of styles, mediums, colours and meanings, and yet, they all combine to substantiate their titles. They seem to find their inspiration from Modernist collage and fragmentation, the rebellion, music, and art of the 60s, and the postmodern eclecticism of today. Alec’s titles including ‘What Is This Mad Obsession With Freedom’, ‘All War Is Deception’, and ‘Fame Kills’, transcend the postmodern era, as relevant today as they were in the decade of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.”

"Since selling his first painting at only 14 years of age, Illinois based artist Alec Goss has exhibited at a number of art shows, won a clutch of awards and worked with established names such as Ron English. At just 18 years of age, Goss is aiming to move to Chicago to attend the School of Art Institute. Having been raised in an artistic family, with both parents being well-known artists in their own right, Alec Goss is certainly from good stock. He references Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali and Joan Miro as his key inspirations and his work is a perfect fusion of a punk aesthetic and retro style. “I can only create and hope that my creations will somehow be appreciated in one way or another. If not, then who cares. Creation is still better than destruction.” Says the young, yet extremely skilled artist. His work is visually stimulating and intellectually provocative at the same time. His work is influenced heavily by music, and he cites a wide variety of artists and genres, from Ken Nordine to Beethoven, and Jazz to Folk. Goss’ skills are already beginning to spread into other areas too, having designed bespoke jewellery and written a couple of screenplays, several poems and also songs. One to watch? That might be a bit of an understatement!" -B.H, MPDClick’s Graphics Trend Researcher
